Time Tracking and Approval
Timesheets record work against a task, deal, or organization. Entries use quarter-hour increments and move through draft, submitted, and approved states.
Log and submit your time
Section titled “Log and submit your time”- Open Timesheets from the Control area of the workspace.
- Create an entry with the date, hours, category, and useful work description. Link a task, deal, or organization when that context exists.
- Use a duration from 0.25 to 24 hours in 0.25-hour increments.
- Choose the category that describes the work: billable, internal, admin, training, or PTO.
- Review draft entries, then submit the selected entries for approval.
Only your own draft entries can be edited or deleted. Submission changes your own entry to submitted; it does not approve it.
Approval and management
Section titled “Approval and management”| Action | Required Timesheets permission |
|---|---|
| View entries | Read |
| Create entry | Create |
| Edit, delete a draft, or submit your own entries | Edit |
| Approve entries, see utilization, or view deal cost | Manage |
Managers should approve only entries that have the right owner, date, category, and supporting work context. Utilization is a management summary over a date range. Deal cost includes salary-derived loaded rates and is deliberately restricted to managers with Timesheets Manage permission.
Practical controls
Section titled “Practical controls”- Enter time soon after the work, not from memory at the end of a long period.
- Use the description to make the work auditable; avoid copying customer-sensitive content unnecessarily.
- Correct a draft before submitting. Escalate a needed correction after submission through the manager workflow rather than assuming it has changed.
- Treat utilization as a planning and review signal, not a measure of individual performance on its own.
