Vendor Management

Internal users with vendors permission and Vendor Portal Users working within the portal experience. These are separate access paths.

Decide whether the work belongs on an internal vendor record or in the vendor portal. Do not assume internal CRM controls are available to a portal user.

  1. Search Vendors before creating a record to preserve existing partner context.
  2. Keep the vendor’s relationship, service details, and operational notes on the vendor source record.
  3. When using a portal invite or portal task, confirm the target and intended result before sending or completing it.
  4. Link vendors to campaigns or other records through the established workflow rather than duplicating identity data.

Portal work remains bounded to the portal’s permitted surfaces. Internal management actions require the appropriate vendors permission and may require manage capability.

  • Portal user cannot see internal data: that separation is intentional.
  • Cannot invite or manage a portal relationship: check the vendor manage permission.
  • Need creator discovery: use Campaigns and sequences.
